| dc.description | This paper states that Acción Femenina and La Mujer Nueva defended the rights of working mothers as a result of their double exploitation and the ravages caused by infant mortality. From the analysis of these media, the feminist discourse around maternity and infant mortality is examined, inferring that working mothers had the double task of caring and productive work due to the subordination to which they were subjected in a “highly androcentric” society. Faced with the problem of infant mortality, both newspapers criticized the work of private charitable institutions characterized as "parceled and unmethodical" and, also, denounced the absence of the State in terms of maternal and child protection. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este trabajo plantea que Acción Femenina y La Mujer Nueva defendieron los derechos de las madres obreras producto de su doble explotación y los estragos causados por la mortalidad infantil. A partir del análisis de estos medios de comunicación se examina el discurso feminista en torno a la maternidad y la mortalidad infantil infiriendo que a las madres obreras les correspondió la doble labor de los cuidados y el trabajo productivo por la subordinación a la que estaban sometidas en una sociedad “altamente androcéntrica”. Ante el problema de la mortalidad infantil, ambos periódicos criticaron la labor de las instituciones de beneficencia de carácter privado caracterizada como “parcelada y poco metódica” y, también, denunciaron la ausencia del Estado en materia de protección materno infantil. | es-ES |
