| dc.description | The bolero Medianoche (Manns/Salinas, 1996) is a musical piece that shows a high quality not only in its lyrics but also in its music. Interpreted by the Inti Illimani musical group, this bolero has been very well received by the public, however, in spite of that, it has not had a deserved success at the international level. The comparison with other representative pieces of this gender offers evidence of unique features that show a superior lyric than many traditional boleros; on the other hand, its success, although important, is not comparable to many other boleros' success. The analysis discusses reasons that could explain this fact: The sociocultural context in which Manns/Salinas' bolero appeared, the social commitment of both the lyric and the music composers, and the language used. This last characteristic, which is precisely the main reason for its high quality, could explain the hard road that this bolero has had to follow to gain acceptance by all kinds of public. The language used by Medianoche is the main difference between Medianoche and traditional boleros. | en-US |
| dc.description | Medianoche (Manns/Salinas, 1996) es una pieza del género bolero que muestra una alta calidad, tanto en su lírica como en su música. Interpretado por el grupo Inti Illimani, este bolero ha gozado de gran aceptación por parte del público; sin embargo, a pesar de su gran calidad no ha tenido el éxito que se merece a nivel internacional. La comparación con otras piezas musicales de este género deja en evidencia rasgos únicos que lo destacan con una lírica superior a muchos boleros tradicionales; por otro lado, el éxito logrado por este, aun cuando es notable, no es comparable al que han logrado los otros boleros. El análisis que se presenta discute algunas razones que podrían explicar este hecho: el contexto sociocultural en que apareció el bolero de Manns y Salinas, el compromiso social tanto del autor de la letra como del grupo que lo interpreta y el lenguaje utilizado. Esta última característica, que es el componente en que radica principalmente su alta calidad, podría haber sido un elemento importante en su difícil camino a una aceptación mayor por todo tipo de público. En el lenguaje que utiliza Medianoche se encuentra su mayor diferencia con los boleros tradicionales. | es-ES |
