<summary type="text">Analysis of professional conditions in architecture and urban planning: expanding boundaries of action; Análise das condições profissionais na arquitetura e urbanismo: ampliando fronteiras de atuação; CONSULTANCY IN ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN DESIGN: EXPANDING THE BORDERS OF THE PROFESSION
This article reviews professional definitions and practices in Architecture and Urbanism, focusing on consultancy as a response to contemporary demands in the Brazilian market. Based on an exploratory approach and bibliographic review, the study highlights the scarcity of clear definitions on Architecture and Urbanism consultancy and the lack of standardization of the service among professionals. In addition, it analyzes the gaps between what is taught, regulated, and practiced, proposing consultancy as an alternative that expands professional possibilities and reinforces the connection between architects and society. Although it does not offer a single solution, the article reflects on the potential of the service to diversify and value the role of architects in the current socioeconomic context.; Revisamos as definições e práticas profissionais na Arquitetura e Urbanismo, com foco na consultoria como uma resposta às demandas contemporâneas do mercado brasileiro. A partir de uma abordagem exploratória e revisão bibliográfica, o estudo destaca a escassez de definições claras sobre consultoria em Arquitetura e Urbanismo e a falta de padronização do serviço entre os profissionais. Além disso, analisa as lacunas entre o que é ensinado, regulamentado e praticado, propondo a consultoria como uma alternativa que expande as possibilidades profissionais e reforça a conexão entre arquitetos e sociedade. Embora não ofereça uma solução única, o artigo reflete sobre o potencial do serviço para diversificar e valorizar o papel dos arquitetosno contexto socioeconômico atual.; Apesar da mídia destacar o caráter projetual da Arquitetura e Urbanismo (AU), o contexto socioeconômico e tecnológico brasileiro demanda uma revisão do que é ensinado nas escolas e praticado no meio profissional. A pandemia de COVID-19 intensificou essas reflexões, expondo as limitações das formas tradicionais de produção e pensamento arquitetônico. Este artigo, com base em revisão bibliográfica e pesquisas anteriores, analisa a prática da consultoria em arquitetura como resposta a novas demandas. Dada a escassez de literatura sobre consultoria em AU e a indefinição de seu papel pelo Conselho de Arquitetura e Urbanismo, o artigo destaca a necessidade de um debate sobre as atribuições profissionais e sua adequação às realidades em que os arquitetos e urbanistas brasileiros estão inseridos. Embora não seja apresentada como solução única, a consultoria é discutida como alternativa para fortalecer a relação dos profissionais e seu papel na sociedade.

<title>Active mobility and the 15-minute city: the case of Santa Fe, Mexico</title>

<summary type="text">Active mobility and the 15-minute city: the case of Santa Fe, Mexico; Movilidad activa y la ciudad de 15 minutos: caso Santa Fe, México
In affluent urban areas, where automobile useis the predominant mode of transportation, non-motorized mobility presents several challenges. This has the effect of limiting physical activity and social interaction, which in turn affects the quality of life of the inhabitants and increases the environmental impact. The aim of this study is to identify the obstacles to active mobility and their impact on the implementation of the 15-minute city concept through an innovative methodology that is readily adoptable. To this end, the road, pedestrian and cycling infrastructure was examined using isochrone mapping, architectural cuts and connectivity mapping of a case study: the sub-urban area of Santa Fe, Mexico City, Mexico. The findings revealed that vehicular mobility is a priority in all the sections studied, with 80 % of vehicular roads in excellent condition, while 80 % of pedestrian roads are deficient, as well as those for cyclists. These results align with theoretical perspectives that highlight the lack of equity in urban design and its impact on active mobility. However, these findings also serve as a reference for the design of future urban projects in areas with similar characteristics.; En zonas urbanas de alto poder adquisitivo, donde predomina el uso del automóvil, la movilidad no motorizada tiende a presentar una serie de desafíos. Esto limita la actividad física y la interacción social afectando la calidad de vida de los habitantes y aumentando el impacto ambiental. Este estudio busca identificar las barreras que enfrenta la movilidad activa y su impacto en la implementación del concepto de ‘ciudades de 15 minutos’ a través de una metodología innovadora de fácil adopción. Para esto, se analizó la infraestructura vial, peatonal y ciclista mediante mapeo de isócronas, cortes arquitectónicos y mapeos de conectividad de un caso de estudio: la zona conurbada de Santa Fe, Ciudad de México, México. Entre los resultados se obtuvo que la movilidad vehicular es prioritaria en todas las secciones estudiadas, con el 80 % en excelente estado para la vialidad vehicular, mientras que 80 % de las vías peatonales son deficientes, al igual que las de ciclistas. Los hallazgos coinciden con teorías que señalan la falta de equidad en el diseño urbano y su impacto en la movilidad activa. Sin embargo, estos resultados también sirven de guía para el diseño de futuros proyectos urbanísticos en zonas de características similares.

<summary type="text">Recycling and densification on a small scale: valuating the heritage of Providencia; Reciclaje y densificación a pequeña escala: valorizando el patrimonio de Providencia
The renovation of a single-family house from the early 20th century, located in one of the most consolidated sectors of the Providencia district in the central area of Santiago de Chile, allows us to reflect on new strategies for the densification of the built city. Introducing the problem of small-scale densification and heritage conservation, we analyze the value of renovating houses of obsolete size and programs, giving them a second life that takes advantage of both the existingurbanization (streets, parks, infrastructure, services and its privileged connectivity) and the quality of its construction (its materiality, the strength of its walls, its height and its aesthetic value). In the case study, by means of addition and subtraction operations-interior divisions, new stairs and a glass pavilion- a single-family dwelling is renovated and transformed into three, thus generating a small residential complex that respects and projects the values of the garden city model that this sector of Providencia still maintains.; La renovación de una vivienda unifamiliar de principios del siglo XX, ubicada en uno de los sectores más consolidados de la comuna de Providencia en el área central de Santiago de Chile, nos permite reflexionar acerca de las nuevas estrategias de densificación de la ciudad construida. Introduciendo el problema de la densificación a pequeña escala y de la conservación patrimonial, se analiza el valor que hay en renovar viviendas de tamaño y programas obsoletos, dotándolas de una segunda vida que aproveche tanto la urbanización existente (sus calles, sus parques, equipamiento, servicios y su conectividad privilegiada) como la calidad de su construcción (su materialidad, la robustez de sus muros, su altura y su valor estético). En el caso de estudio, acotadas operaciones de suma y resta —divisiones interiores, nuevas escaleras y un pabellón de cristal— se renueva una vivienda unifamiliar y se transforma en tres, generando así un pequeño conjunto residencial que es respetuoso y proyecta los valores del modelo de ciudad jardín que aún mantiene este sector de Providencia.; -

This article examines the affinities between Rem Koolhaas’s architectural extension strategies and the surrealist concept of the  ‘exquisite corpse’. The problem addressed is how these extensions, conceived as ideologically autonomous components, reconfigure the building as a collective palimpsest. The objective is to analyze how these practices align with the principles of ‘Manhattanism’ articulated in Delirious New York and how they resonate with the organic excrescences characteristic of Salvador Dalí’s artistic universe. The methodology employs a critical analysis of Koolhaas’s key projects alongside an interpretation of surrealist methodologies, assessing their conceptual convergence. The findings indicate that these extensions, formally autonomous and seemingly random, not only fulfill functional requirements but also challenge the rationalist foundations of architectural design, establishing an interdisciplinary dialogue between architecture and surrealist art.; El artículo explora las afinidades entre las estrategias de ampliaciones de edificios concebidos por Rem Koolhaas y el concepto surrealista del ‘cadáver exquisito’. El problema radica en cómo estas ampliaciones, concebidas como partes ideológicamente  autónomas,  reconfiguran el edificio como un palimpsesto colectivo. El objetivo es analizar cómo estas prácticas conectan con los principios del ‘manhattanismo’ descritos en Delirious New York y cómo evocan las excrecencias orgánicas propias del universo de Salvador Dalí. La metodología combina un análisis crítico de proyectos clave de Koolhaas con la interpretación de las ‘metodologías surrealistas’, evaluando su convergencia conceptual. Las conclusiones reflejan que estas ampliaciones, formalmente autónomas y aparentemente aleatorias, no solo responden a necesidades funcionales, sino que cuestionan las bases racionalistas del proyecto arquitectónico, consolidando un diálogo interdisciplinar entre arquitectura y surrealismo.
