<title>The Canary Islands Circular Design Ecosystem: An Examination of its Relational Dynamics for the Circular Transition</title>
<link>https://revistaschilenas.uchile.cl/handle/2250/256456</link>
<description>The Canary Islands Circular Design Ecosystem: An Examination of its Relational Dynamics for the Circular Transition; Ecosistema de Diseño Circular canario: Sus dinámicas relacionales para la transición circular
The concept of circular design ecosystems is predicated on the premise that design functions as a strategic instrument to catalyse the transition to a circular economy. This paradigm fosters collaboration among diverse stakeholders while promoting innovation in the development of sustainable strategies. This approach is of particular pertinence in regions of the Ibero-American sphere, such as the Canary Islands (Spain). The objective of this research is to analyse the relational dynamics between the agents that constitute the Canary Islands Circular Design Ecosystem (EDCc). The methodology was based on a documentary study of the types and characteristics of the relationships that constitute an ecosystem, complemented by a relational analysis of the actors that constitute the EDCc. The findings indicate that collaborative interactions play a pivotal role in the promotion of the circular economy within the Canary Islands. However, the hierarchical relationships that are characterised by the political sphere highlight the necessity to promote more bidirectional cooperation in order to strengthen the cohesion of the system.

<title>Institutional Mediation and Sustainable Transition in Ibero-American Contexts</title>
<link>https://revistaschilenas.uchile.cl/handle/2250/256455</link>
<description>Institutional Mediation and Sustainable Transition in Ibero-American Contexts; Mediación institucional y transición sostenible en contextos iberoamericanos
The transition toward more sustainable patterns of production and consumption has become central to public, corporate, and academic agendas, driving solutions associated with the circular economy, materials design, and bio-based products. Nevertheless, despite the expansion of initiatives and technical and design-oriented advances, their adoption, replicability, and scaling remain limited, particularly in Ibero-American contexts marked by productive heterogeneity and uneven institutional capacities. In response to this problem, the article analyzes how the literature on sustainable materials and design conceptualizes the mediation processes that connect material innovation with dynamics of sustainable change. The study adopts a critical conceptual synthesis of the literature, grounded in an interpretive approach that integrates contributions from socio-technical transitions, the circular economy, materials design, collaborative governance, and intermediation in innovation processes. The findings identify four interpretive patterns related to the disconnect between material innovation and sustainable transition, the role of institutional mediation, the relevance of intermediaries and collaborative governance arrangements, and the limited consideration of scaling as an analytical problem. In conclusion, the analysis suggests understanding sustainability as a relational and institutionally mediated outcome, rather than as a technical attribute of specific materials or solutions.; La transición hacia patrones más sostenibles de producción y consumo ha adquirido centralidad en agendas públicas, empresariales y académicas, impulsando soluciones asociadas a la economía circular, el diseño de materiales y los productos biobasados.

<title>Design as a Strategic Interface for Open Innovation and Sustainable Value</title>
<link>https://revistaschilenas.uchile.cl/handle/2250/256453</link>
<description>Design as a Strategic Interface for Open Innovation and Sustainable Value; El diseño como interfaz estratégica para innovación abierta y valor sostenible
This paper proposes to analyze how design functions as a fundamental methodological interface for articulating open innovation processes oriented toward the creation of sustainable value. It draws on a critical review of open innovation models and design methodologies. It is argued that design possesses the singular capacity to integrate exploratory, creative, and operational dimensions within collaborative systems. This integration enabled knowledge from diverse actors: such as users, suppliers, communities, and experts, to be translated into implementable design proposals aligned with sustainability goals. The article develops a conceptual framework in which design operates as a translator between dispersed forms of knowledge and as a structuring mechanism that converts the collaborative openness of open innovation into tangible outcomes. Additionally, the implications for small-scale productive ecosystems are discussed, highlighting design's capacity to strengthen micro-hubs of innovation and generate sustainable value in resource-constrained contexts.; Este artículo propone analizar cómo el diseño funge como una interfaz metodológica fundamental para articular procesos de innovación abierta orientados a la creación de valor sostenible.

<title>Portable Publishing: Interactivity in Analog and Digital Formats</title>
<link>https://revistaschilenas.uchile.cl/handle/2250/256457</link>
<description>Portable Publishing: Interactivity in Analog and Digital Formats; Publicación portable: Interactividad en formatos análogos y digitales
This article examines portable publishing as a situated editorial practice that brings together analog and digital materialities, activating forms of interaction that exceed the traditional frameworks of the book. It analyzes literary and artistic self-publishing experiences operating at the intersection of circulation, body, and territory, understanding publication not only as an object but as a relational device. The research focuses on projects that deploy strategies of portability, situated writing, hybrid dissemination, and collective documentation, in which the digital does not replace the analog but rather complements and extends it. In this sense, the bodies of both reader and author become constitutive parts of the medium, activating performative readings and hand-to-hand modes of circulation that subsequently find continuity in digital environments to shape an archive.; Este artículo aborda la publicación portable como una práctica editorial situada, que articula materialidades análogas y digitales, al activar formas de interacción que desbordan los marcos tradicionales del libro.
