| dc.description | Objective: To identify adverse effects associated with treatments against oral cancer and itsaffection to the quality of life of the oncological patient. Methodology: Academic Scielo / PubMed/ Google has been used as search engines for bibliographic research, using the keywords "oralcancer" and "quality of life" in combination with "oncological treatment", "oral health" and "qualtyof life ". A manual search was carried out based on the bibliographic references of review articlesbetween 2008 and 2018. Results: there are multiple adverse effects after oncological treatmentsaffecting notoriously the quality of life of the patient, varying from: alterations of partial or totaltaste, hyposialia, tendency to bleeding, dental caries, trismus, oral mucositis, infections,osteonecrosis, osteoradionecrosis, neurotixicity. In addition treatments such as oncological surgeryhave as a consequence affection of food intake and nutrition, deformities with affectation in facialaesthetics, compromise of speech function leading to reduced intelligibility. Conclusions: Oralcancer treatment often involves actions that usually affect the quality of life of the patient bycausing drastic changes, among which are the great difficulties of adaptation along with theeconomic, social and family impact. It is essential the primary prevention and palliative care of oralcancer product of the various adverse effects or consequences that lead to oncological treatments.Key words: treatment, oral cancer, quality of life, oncological patient. | en-US |
| dc.description | Objetivo: Identificar efectos adversos asociadas a tratamientos contra el cáncer oral y su afección a la calidad de vida del paciente oncológico. Metodología: se ha utilizado Scielo/PubMed/Google académico como motores de búsqueda para la pesquisa bibliográfica, utilizando las palabras clave “cancer oral” y “calidad de vida “en combinación con “tratamiento oncológico”, “salud oral” y “qualty of life”. Se realizó una búsqueda manual basada en las referencias bibliográficas de artículos de revisión entre 2008 y 2018. Resultados: existen múltiples efectos adversos posteriores a tratamientos oncológicos afectando notoriamente la calidad de vida del paciente, variando desde: alteraciones del gusto parcial o total, hiposialia, tendencia al sangrado, caries dental, trismos, mucositis oral, infecciones, osteonecrosis, osteoradionecrosis, neurotixicidad. Además tratamientos como lo son la cirugía oncológica tienen como consecuencia afección de la ingesta alimenticia y nutrición, deformidades con afectación en la estética facial, compromiso de la función del habla llevando a reducida inteligibilidad. Conclusiones: el tratamiento del cáncer oral muchas veces implica acciones que suelen afectar la calidad de vida del paciente por provocar cambios drásticos, dentro de los cuales se hallan las grandes dificultades de adaptación junto con el impacto económico, social y familiar. Es imprescindible la prevención primaria y los cuidados paliativos del cáncer bucal producto de los diversos efectos adversos o consecuencias que conllevan los tratamientos oncológicos.
