| dc.description | The paper analyzes the emergence of plastic and cosmetic surgery during the twentieth century. Underpinned by the cyborg theory developed by Donna Haraway, this article attempts at the analysis of new ways of relationship between body and society, delving into reconstructive and aesthetic surgeries as techniques of production and construction of contemporary bodies. It looks at these new forms insofar they constitute new devices for subjectivity in which the interplay between socio-technical linkages and the body politics of technology, medicine, gender and aesthetic take place. | en-US |

Tomando como grilla de análisis la figura del cyborg, desarrollado por Donna Haraway, este artículo se propone analizar las nuevas formas de relación entre cuerpo y sociedad, indagando en las cirugías re-constructiva y estética en tanto técnicas de producción, construcción y re-construcción de los cuerpos contemporáneos, y como un nuevo dispositivo de subjetivación en que se ponen en juego las alianzas socio-técnicas entre construcción social del cuerpo, tecnologías, medicina, género y estética. | es-ES |
