dc.descriptionDespite recent events in the public debate and the media regarding the relationship between science and politics in Chile, the archaeological community has shown limited interest in these discussions. In this paper, we seek to reverse this situation by reflecting on the main scientific policy and investigation promoter institution in the country (Conicyt and the Fondecyt Programme). We will analyse the political conditions that guide and are reproduced by the programme, especially in relation to archaeology. In order to achieve this, we attempt to identify the political dimensions operating within the program. We hope hereby to promote the debate within the archaeological community and to discuss some proposals to think scientific policies, the role of the social sciences and the promotion of a social orientation to Chilean archaeology.en-US
dc.descriptionPese a los últimos eventos de la contingencia y el debate público que han situado el interés académico en la relación entre ciencia y política en Chile, la arqueología se ha mantenido relativamente ajena a estas discusiones. En el presente trabajo buscamos revertir esta lejanía, proponiendo una reflexión en torno a la principal institución generadora de políticas científicas e investigaciones en el país (Conicyt y el Programa Fondecyt), así como a las condiciones políticas a las que responde y que reproduce, en especial en lo referente a la arqueología. Para ello, identificamos las dimensiones políticas que operan en dicho programa con el objeto de incentivar el debate dentro de la comunidad arqueológica y generar discusiones acerca de posibles propuestas para pensar la política científica, el rol de las ciencias sociales y la promoción de un sentido social de la arqueología en Chile.es-ES
