| dc.description | El presente artículo trata de explicar, a un público internacional, los intricados sucesos que han llevado a Venezuela a la peor crisis económica de su historia y a la peor recesión registrada en América. En ese proceso se verán algunos efectos del rentismo minero hidrocarburifero en la economía, es decir, la sincronizada exportación del petróleo y del dinero pagado por él. Hacia el final, se hablará acerca de las actuales sanciones que dificultan la recuperación económica y su influencia real en la apuesta por el cambio social. Para terminar, se estudiarán de manera muy breve los aspectos más relevantes de la crisis política actual y lo relativo a la posibilidad de la continuidad del chavismo como proceso político hegemónico en el país. | es-ES |
| dc.description | This article tries to explain, for an international audience, the intricate events that have led Venezuela to the worst economic crisis in its history and to the worst recession in America. In this process we will see some effects of hydrocarbon mining rent seeking in the economy, that is, the synchronized export of oil and the money paid by it. Towards the end, the current sanctions that hinder economic recovery and its real influence on the commitment to social change will be discussed. In conclusion, the most relevant aspects of the current political crisis and the possibility of continuity of Chavism as a hegemonic political process in the country, will be studied very briefly. | en-US |
