| dc.description | We investigated the differences in the narratives of transsexuals and transgender women, with emphasis on the meanings of gender, sexuality and body. The sample consisted of ten participants (five transsexual women and five transgender woman) who where interviewed using the life stories method, the data being analyzed through content analysis. The results showed that transsexuality is wider than what is proposed by DSM IV, as not all transsexual people reject the body, wich is the case of transgender people. Further investigations are necessary regarding transsexuality, along with discussing the ethical responsibility of Psychology in the pass for sex change. | en-US |
| dc.description | Se investigaron las diferencias en las narrativas de mujeres transexuales y transgénero, con énfasis en los significados de género, sexualidad y cuerpo. La muestra estuvo compuesta por diez participantes (cinco mujeres transexuales y cinco mujeres transgénero) a las cuales se les entrevistó con el método de relatos de vida, siendo analizados los datos a través del análisis de contenido.Los resultados arrojaron que la transexualidad es más amplia de lo que plantea el DSM IV, ya que no todas las personas transexuales rechazan el cuerpo, como es el caso de las personas transgénero. Se hacen necesarias más investigaciones acerca de la transexualidad, junto con discutir la responsabilidad ética de la Psicología en el pase para cambio de sexo. | es-ES |
