| dc.description | Within the framework of our studies on cultural-linguistic mediation and its impact on colonial Hispanic-Mapuche relationships in the Araucanian border, we propose to reflect on how the practice of parleys could have contributed to foster new subjectivities and social relations. Facing such a formalized and long-lasting diplomatic practice from the perspective of the dynamics of recognition, we ask ourselves whether the translation and interpretation that necessarily took place at these parleys brought about subjects who were active counterparts able to influence the outcomes, and not just subjects of integration and assimilation. We posit that it is possible to think about cultural-linguistic mediation as a counterweight to hegemony. | en-US |
| dc.description | En el marco de nuestros estudios sobre la mediación lingüístico-cultural y su impacto en las relaciones intersociales en el caso de la frontera hispano-mapuche colonial, proponemos una reflexión sobre cómo la práctica de los parlamentos pudo contribuir a potenciar la configuración de nuevas subjetividades y relaciones sociales. Situándonos en la perspectiva de las dinámicas del reconocimiento y ante una práctica tan formalizada y de tan larga duración, nos preguntamos si el ejercicio de la traducción e interpretación, presente y necesaria para el desarrollo de los parlamentos, genera sujetos que son contraparte activa con capacidad de influir y no sólo sujetos de integración o asimilación. Postularemos que es posible pensar en la mediación lingüístico-cultural como contrapeso a la hegemonía. | es-ES |
