| dc.description | This article presents the thesis that public state policies, in addition to the weight of the mining-industrial economy, the actions of the municipalities, and the presence of new social actors, are factors that drive the political, economic, social, and territorial changes in the Province of Tamarugal. The study emphasises that we are witnessing a second cycle of economic exploitation focused primarily on copper production. Complemen tarily, rural Tarapacá is a territory that recycles and reinvents itself based on two types of globalization. One is associated with the territorial area where the mining activity operates and it is characterized by a steady participation in the globalised world. The other area is where poverty, exclusion, and the informal economy increase while the population decreases. | en-US |
| dc.description | El trabajo expone la tesis de que las políticas estatales, más el peso de la economía minero-industrial, el accionar municipal y la presencia de nuevos actores sociales son factores que impulsan los cambios socio políticos, económicos y territoriales en la Provincia del Tamarugal. El artículo enfatiza que estamos en presencia de un nueve ciclo de explotación económica, centrada fundamentalmente en la producción de cobre. Complementariamente, Tarapacá rural es un territorio que se recicla y reinventa sobre la base de dos tipos de globalización, uno asociado al área territorial donde funcionan las mineras y caracterizado por una sostenida incorporación al mundo globalizado, y otra área en que aumenta la pobreza, la exclusión, la economía informal y cada día menor cantidad de habitantes. | es-ES |
