| dc.description | The Germans were one of the most active European colonies in the economic, social and educational fields. This in the saltpeter pampas and in the city of Antofagasta. In the desert they developed the nitrate industry in the communes of Tocopilla and Taltal. In Antofagasta, its actions focused on commerce, banking, education and professional practice in the first three decades of the twentieth century. | dc.description | Los alemanes fueron una de las colonias europeas más activas en los ámbitos económico, social y educacional. Esto en la pampa salitrera y en la ciudad de Antofagasta. En el desierto desarrollaron la industria del nitrato en las comunas de Tocopilla y Taltal. En Antofagasta, sus acciones se concentraron en el comercio, la actividad bancaria, la educación y el ejercicio profesional en las tres primeras décadas del siglo XX.
