| dc.description | This article presents the design of a course that we have called “Inserción” which is based on the methodological principles of the communicative approach in teaching foreign languages, task-based approach and ethnography. The research paper describes the design and implementation of the “Inserción” course in the city of Concepción and in the Eighth Region of Chile. The Language and Culture Program of the University of California taught the course in Concepción, Chile in the year 2008. The professor establishes the base design of the course. A group of students from the University of Concepción, — the so-called “siblings” of the foreign students — creates a project from the base design and then guides and helps the foreign students during the implementation of the projects. The professor is a facilitator of the course that challenges students to leave the classroom and experience the city and the region. The places to visit are the main square, the zoo, the fruit and vegetable among other. The main working instrument is the semi-structured interview and the final task is to write a blog with the experiences of each group. We illustrate the model by presenting the projects “Lota, Mining City” and “The Heart of Concepción”that takes place at the main square of the capital city of the Bio-Bio Region. Finally some students both Chilean and foreigners reflect on this experience. | en-US |
| dc.description | En este artículo proponemos el diseño de un curso que hemos llamado “Inserción”, y que se inspira en los principios metodológicos del “enfoque comunicativo” en la enseñanza de lenguas extranjeras, del “enfoque por tareas” y de la etnografía. El artículo describe el diseño y la implementación del curso Inserción en Concepción y la Octava Región de Chile, impartido por el Programa de Lengua y Cultura de la Universidad de California en Concepción, el año 2008. El profesor realiza el diseño base del curso. Un grupo de estudiantes de la Universidad de Concepción —los ‘hermanos’ de los estudiantes extranjeros— crean un proyecto a partir del diseño base y, posteriormente, orientan y acompañan a los jóvenes extranjeros durante la resolución de los proyectos. El profesor es un facilitador en este curso que desafía a los estudiantes a salir de la sala de clases y a incursionar en la ciudad y en la región. El escenario lo constituyen, entre otros, la plaza de Armas, el zoológico y la feria. El principal instrumento de trabajo es la entrevista semiestructurada y la tarea final consiste en hacer un blog que recoja la experiencia de cada grupo. Ilustramos el modelo, presentando los proyectos “Lota, ciudad minera” y “El corazón de Concepción”, que se lleva a cabo en la plaza de Armas de la capital de la región del Biobío. Finalmente, algunos estudiantes, tanto extranjeros como chilenos, reflexionan en torno a esta experiencia. | es-ES |
