This paper deals with the laymen’s need of an accompanying church that responds to the challenges arising from the recommendations of the Second Vatican Council, which demands a theology considering the signs of the times, bearing in mind the option for the poor and the active participation of the laymen community in the spirit of the góspel.La necesidad de los laicos de una Iglesia acompañante que responda a los desafíos planteados a partir de las recomendaciones del Concilio Vaticano II, la cual demanda una teología que considere los signos de los tiempos, teniendo presente la opción por los pobres, y la participación activa de comunidad laical animados en el espíritu del Evangelio.
