dc.description	This article analyzes the levels of trust in political parties in Latin America using the 2008 database provided by the AmericasBarometer survey carried out by the Latin American Public Opinion Project (LAPOP) at Vanderbilt University. Furthermore, it shows the determinants of the low levels of confidence in political parties we find in the region. The analysis demonstrates that system support and satisfaction with government performance at national and local levels are key factors explaining trust in these institutions of representation.	en-US
dc.description	Este artículo analiza los niveles de confianza ciudadana en los partidos políticos en América Latina utilizando para ello los datos de encuesta que proporciona la ronda 2008 del Barómetro de las Américas llevado a cabo por el Proyecto de Opinión Pública en América Latina (LAPOP) de la Universidad de Vanderbilt. Asimismo, se presentan los determinantes que explican los bajos niveles de confianza en los partidos que aparecen en la región. El análisis muestra cómo el apoyo al sistema político, y la percepción de eficacia del gobierno a nivel nacional son factores clave a la hora de explicar la confianza en estas instituciones de representación.	es-ES
