| dc.description | Para la mayoría de los escritores norteamericanos especialistas en asuntos latinoamericanos, Venezuela ha venido desde 1959 experimentando una revolución democrática. Bajo los auspicios del Partido Acción Democrática (AD), se sostiene, se han llevado a cabo una serie de cambios de gran alcance que han reestructurado fundamentalmente la sociedad venezolana. La política del actual Presidente de la República, Sr. Caldera, miembro del Partido Social Cristiano, es considerada, en general, como la continuación de la revolución "democrática" iniciada por AD. Tras una década analizamos y evaluamos de cerca los argumentos presentados en favor de la alternativa democrático-capitalista frente a la revolución social. Por medio de la determinación de los cambios que se han operado, veremos si Venezuela es un modelo viable para el resto del hemisferio y cuáles son los costos que ha acarreado el proceso. | es-ES |
| dc.description | For most American writers specializing in Latin American affairs, Venezuela has been experiencing a democratic revolution since 1959. Under the auspices of the Democratic Action party (AD), it is argued, a series of far-reaching changes have taken place that have fundamentally restructured Venezuelan society. The policy of the current President of the Republic, Mr. Caldera, a member of the Social Christian Party, is considered, in general, as the continuation of the "democratic" revolution initiated by AD. After a decade we closely analyze and evaluate the arguments presented in favor of the democratic-capitalist alternative to the social revolution. By determining the changes that have taken place, we will see if Venezuela is a viable model for the rest of the hemisphere and what are the costs that this process has entailed. | en-US |
