| dc.description | The war in the South Atlantic was not just any confrontation. The conflict synthesized in a complex way many of the problems that have characterized the international relations of Latin America and its internal dimensions. This article focuses on the following aspects of the crisis: the issue of democratization as a component of the national interest of the countries of the Southern Cone and also of the United States in the region; the problem of the "diversification of dependency" as an additional interest of the Latin American states; the future of inter-American relations; the perspectives of the Argentine-Soviet ties and, finally, the possible directions of intra-Latin American relations. | en-US |
