La decisión adoptada por los Estados Unidos de desplegar en los años venideros sobre su territorio un' sistema "liviano" de cohetes antibalísticos (ABM), representa una etapa en la historia de la confrontación estratégica Este-Oeste. Es por esto que esta decisión merece por tanto ser analizada desde lo más cerca posible, ya que sus orígenes y consecuencias son evidentemente de órdenes diversos y muy diferentes. Por esto se examinan sucesivamente las características tácticas de los nuevos sistemas de armas, los aspectos estratégicos que han determinado la decisión de despliegue en uno y otro lado, y sus consecuencias presupuestarias y políticas.The decision taken by the United States to deploy a 'light' anti-ballistic missil (ABM) system over the coming years represents a stage in the history of the East-West strategic confrontation. This is why this decision therefore deserves to be analyzed as closely as possible, since its origins and consequences are obviously of different and very different orders. For this reason, the tactical characteristics of the new weapons systems, the strategic aspects that have determined the decision to deploy on both sides, and their budgetary and political consequences are successively examined.
