dc.description2007 was marked by a mismatch. On the one hand, Lula remained high approval ratings and the economy went well. On the other, however, the president faced growing political difficulties with the parties and Congress. From an economic standpoint, good winds from the global market brought many benefits to the country, which witnessed improvements in several indicators. Politically, a series of problems haunted the Legislative Branch, most of them associated with corruption scandals, paving the way to greater judicial activism. The national government proved to be ineffective in terms of political management, which was evidenced by the rejection of the renewal of a tax on financial transactions by the Senate.en-US
dc.descriptionEl año 2007 estuvo marcado por un gran desencuentro. Por un lado, Lula permaneció con una alta popularidad y la economía marchó bien, por el otro, el Presidente pasó crecientes dificultades políticas con los partidos y el Congreso. Desde el punto de vista económico, la coyuntura mundial favorable trajo beneficios al país, el que presentó mejoras en diversos índices. Políticamente, una serie de problemas del Poder Legislativo, la mayoría asociada a escándalos de corrupción, propició un mayor activismo judicial. También el gobierno federal reveló serias debilidades en la gestión política, demostrándose con el rechazo de la prorrogación del impuesto sobre transacciones financieras por parte del Senado Federal, cámara legislativa en que se concentró la oposición a Lula.es-ES
