dc.descriptionThe economic crisis in Spain since 2008 has translated in 2012 into crises of social and political representation, and a drop in the quality of democracy. The public policies designed by the government of Mariano Rajoy, during his first year in office and under European tutelage, have been characterized by austerity measures and budget cuts. These policies have increased unemployment, with the consequent social mobilizations and severe public criticism regarding the performance of the political system. This dissatisfaction also entailed a distancing by the citizenry from mainstream political parties and a questioning of the viability of the functioning of a decentralized model of State in autonomous communities.en-US
dc.descriptionLa crisis económica que sufre España desde 2008 ha derivado en 2012 en un escenario de crisis social, crisis de representación política, y pérdida de calidad de la democracia. Las políticas públicas que el gobierno de Mariano Rajoy ha diseñado, en su primer año de gobierno y bajo tutela europea, han estado dominadas por la austeridad y los recortes. Estas políticas han provocado un incremento del desempleo, las movilizaciones ciudadanas y las críticas a la actuación política. Estas críticas suponen un alejamiento de la ciudadanía de los partidos políticos mayoritarios y un cuestionamiento del funcionamiento de modelo descentralizado de organización del Estado en comunidades autónomas.es-ES
