| dc.description | This article aims to account for a demographic phenomenon that we have identified for the provinces (corregimientos and/or subdelegations) of Arica and Tarapacá, which is consistent with the population dynamics that have been observed in Latin America regarding the population increase in the second half of the eighteenth century. This increase in the population had been evidenced through the analysis of census-type documents that allowed to distinguish the growth of the native population from the forasteros. However, this regional perspective demanded an extension of the ecclesiastical sources to observe in a smaller space, but with more information and precision the previous processes, which is what we have done with the parish registers of the doctrine of Belén. At the same time it observe the micro aspects that gave rise to this demographic increase, mainly related to the migration of forasteros, understood as a transmutable category. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este artículo tiene por finalidad dar cuenta de un fenómeno demográfico que hemos identificado para las provincias (corregimientos y/o subdelegaciones) de Arica y Tarapacá, que es coherente con las dinámicas poblacionales que se han observado en América Latina relativas al aumento demográfico en la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII. Este incremento de la población se había evidenciado a partir del análisis de documentos de tipo censal lo que permitió distinguir el crecimiento de la población indígena originaria de la forastera. Sin embargo, esta mirada regional exigía ampliar a las fuentes eclesiásticas para observar en un espacio más reducido, pero con mayor información y precisión, los anteriores procesos, que es lo que hemos hecho con la doctrina de Belén, por medio de sus registros parroquiales, lo que nos ha permitido observar los aspectos micro que originan este fenómeno, relacionado principalmente con la migración de forasteros, comprendidos como una categoría transmutable. | es-ES |
