The objective of this article is to analyze the figure and work of Augusto Ibáñez Serrano, an Aragonese who emigrated to Mexico in 1900 and who, much later, would become the unofficial representative of General Franco’s Spain in his host country for 14 years. Due to his career, we are in the presence of a key figure to understand the complex diplomatic relations between Spain and Mexico, during and after the Spanish Civil War, as well as to decipher the great tensions experienced within the National Movement in the struggle to exercise hegemony and control over Spanish interests in a country that never recognized the Caudillo regime. In fact, and as will be demonstrated, Ibáñez Serrano was the great promoter of the dismantling of the Spanish Falange in Mexico.Keywords: Augusto Ibáñez Serrano, FET and de las JONS, Franco regime, relations Spain and Mexico.El objetivo del presente artículo es analizar la figura y obra de Augusto Ibáñez Serrano, un aragonés que emigró a México en 1900 y que, mucho tiempo después, se convertiría en el representante oficioso de la España del general Franco en su país de acogida durante 14 años. Por su trayectoria, estamos en presencia de un personaje clave para entender las complejas relaciones diplomáticas entre España y México, durante y después de la Guerra Civil española, así como para descifrar las grandes tensiones vividas dentro del Movimiento Nacional en la lucha por ejercer la hegemonía y control sobre los intereses españoles en un país que nunca reconoció el régimen del Caudillo.
