Se serotipificó 98 cepas de Erysipelothrix rhusio­pathiae provenientes de lesiones artríticas de cerdos y 44 de tonsilas palatinas de algunos de esos mis­mos animales, por prueba de doble difusión en placa de agarosa.Se encontró 12 serotipos conocidos y uno Nue­vo; el serotipo 4 en 28,9%, serotipo Nuevo en 14,1%, serotipos l a y 17 en 12,7% cada uno; los otros serotipos fueron 14, 2, 10, 19, 8, 15, 1b, 3 y 22.De 29 concurrencias de cepas de lesión artrítica y de tonsila de un mismo cerdo, en 11 se encontró el mismo serotipo y en 18, éstos fueron diferentes. El serotipo 4 se encontró en sobre el 55% de estas concurrencias.Palabras claves: erisipela, cerdos, artritis, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae serotipos.AbstractNinety eight Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae strains from arthritis lesions and 44 from tonsils of the same pigs were serotyped using the double diffusion agarose gel test. Twelve known and a new serotype were detected in the 142 strains. Their frecuencies were type 4: 28,9%, serotypes 17 and 1 a: 12,7% each one and a new serotype: 14,1 %. Other serotypes found were 14, 2, 10, 19, 8, 15, 1 b, 3 and 22. There were 11 pigs with the same serotype and 18 with different serotype in 29 sets of tonsils and arthritis lesions strains.
