dc.descriptionA summary is presented of what is known to date of the mechanism of dissolution of cellulose in the mixed solvent N,N -dimethyl acetamide with lithium chloride (DMAc/LiCl), including recent results from the author s laboratory as well as from other laboratories around the world. The requirements for a rigorous dissolution mechanism are outlined and a mechanism is proposed that includes the most recent experimental data
