dc.descriptionGestation length, foetal-maternal weights relationship, duration ofparturition, incidence of dystocias and foetal presentation, position and attitude —.P.A.) at parturition were compared on two necks of 198 Austral and 97 Latxa ewes each, from one to fi ve years old, both located in Valdivia, Chile. The average length of gestation obtained for 161 Austral and 75 Latxa ewes was 146.4 ± 1.8 and 152.7 -- 1.9 days, respectively. The w/w foetal-maternal relation calculated for 62 Austral ewes and their 108 lambs was 6.2 % and for 51 Latxa with their 75 lambs 9.5 %. The average duration offoetal expulsion in 26 parturitions ofAustral and 10 of Latxa ewes was 24.0 f 10.9 and 66.5 1-33.9 minutes, respectively. The placenta expulsion observed in 29 Austral ewes was 3.3 rt O.g hours and in 16 Latxa ewes it was 3.3 ±0.8 hours. The incidence of dystocia in 181 parturitions ofAustral and in 79 Latxa ewes was 5.5 % and 5 1.9 %, respectively. In 64.3 %Austral and 59.6 % Latxa lambs observed during parturition the normal fetal P.P.A. for these species was observed, consisting in upper position, anterior presentation and extended attitude.The existence of remarkable differences in all studied gestation and parturition variables between Austral and Latxa ewes is revealed.en-US
dc.descriptionDos rebaños ovinos, 198 de raza Austral y 97 de raza Latxa, ubicados en la Unidad Ovina del predio Santa Rosa de la Universidad Austral de Chile se describieron a través de las siguientes variables: tiempo de gestación, peso de las crías a) nacimiento, relación materno fetal, incidencia de distocias y estática fetal.El tiempo de gestación para 161 ovejas Austral y 75 Latxa fue de 146.4 ± 1.8 y 152.7 ± 1 días, respectivamente. La relación mater-no:fetal calculada para 62 ovejas Austral con sus 108 crías fue de 6.2 % y para 51 ovejas Latxa con sus 75 crías 9.5 %.El tiempo promedio de la fase de expulsión del parto de 26 ovejas Austral y de 10 ovejas Latxa fue de 24.0 ± 10.9 y 66.5 ± 33.9 min, respectivamente. La secundinización se produjo 3.3 horas post-expulsión fetal en 29 ovejas Austral y 16 Latxa observadas.La incidencia de distocias en 181 partos de ovejas Austral y en 79 ovejas Latxa fue de 5.5 y 51.9%, respectivamente. La estática fetal en 28 Australes y 47 Latxa fue en 64.3 % de las primeras y 59.6 % de las últimas la presentación anterior, posición superior y actitud extendida.Se concluye en que hay diferencias aprecia­bles entre las razas ovinas Austral y Latxa en todas las variables obstétricas estudiadas.es-ES
