| dc.description | El VDVB y el VRIB son frecuentemente aislados en Chile, y estudios de prevalencias serol ógicas demuestran su amplia distribución. Se desconocen los valores de prevalencia serológica para ellos en predios de la Región Metropolitana. Se planteó como objetivo conocer las prevalencias de anticuerpos seroneutralizantes para el VDVB y el VRIB en predios lecheros de la Región Metropolitana.De 432 muestras analizadas para detectar la presencia de anticuerpos para el VDVB, el 60% fueron positivas y de 588 muestras analizadas para el VRIB el 43%. La prevalencia predial fue de un 96% y de un 86% para el VDVB y el VRIB, respectivamente. Para el VDVB se detectaron diferencias (p < 0,05) según la edad de los animales estando más afectadas las vaquillas. Para el VRIB se encontraron diferencias: según el tamaño del predio siendo más afectados los predios con más de 100 animales (p < 0,05); y según la edad. Las hembras más afectadas fueron las paridas de más de 18 meses (p < 0,05); el sector geográfico, más afectado fue Talagante (p < 0,05).Se detecta asociación positiva entre la presencia cualitativa de anticuerpos para el VDVB y el VRIB y asociación negativa entre los niveles de los anticuerpos para el VDVB y el VRIB.Se concluye que el VDVB y el VRIB se encuentran ampliamente difundidos en los predios lecheros de la Región Metropolitana.Palabras claves: Diarrea viral bovina, rinotraqueítis infecciosa bovina.AbstractThe bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV), and infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus (IBRV), have frequently been isolated in Chile from infections of the respiratory tract and abortions. Serological surveys in different geographic zones show that both viruses are widespread in Chile, but it is not know what happens in the Region Metropolitana. The object of this study is to know the serological antibodies prevalences of BVDV and IBRV on dairy herds in the Region Metropolitana, and the association between the presence of antibodies against them.The serological procedure used for the detection of antibodies to BVDV and IBRV was the serum neutralization test. The serum samples were screened in 1:2 dilution against 100 tissue culture doses 50% (TCID50) of each virus.Of 432 samples tested for BVDV antibodies, 60% (258) had neutralizing antibodies; and of 588 samples tested for IBRV antibodies, 43% (252) had neutralizing antibodies too. The predials prevalences were 96% and 86% for BVDV and IBRV respectively.For BVDV antibodies, there were differences between the age of the animals (p < 0,05). For IBRV antibodies, there were differences between: the number of animals by predio (p < 0,05), the geographic zone in the Region Metropolitana (p < 0,05), and the age of the animals (p < 0,05).There was association between the presence of antibodies for both viruses, but there was not association between the magnitude of the titles for each virus.
