| dc.description | A description of shoeing in 150 thoroughbred chilean horses, from Ñuble according by age (less than 4 years, between 4 and 12 years old, older than 12 years) finds 66% between 4 to 12 years old, and only 5.33% older than 12 years. It was determinated that 100% of the animals presented some technical error in shoeing. The most frequent errors were nails located too, far back (100%), nail head that stand out (100%), narrow shoeing (47.3%), excessive paring of the sole (34%), excessive paring of the frog (30.8%). | dc.description | Se describen las características del herraje de una población de 150 equinos fina sangre chilenos, de la Provincia de Ñuble, agrupados por edades (menos de 4, entre 4 y 12 y mayores de 12 años), encontrándose el 66% entre 4 y 12 años y sólo el 5,33% en los mayores de 12 años. Se determinó que el 100% de los animales analizados presentaban algún error en la técnica de herraje. En la evaluación del herraje se detectó con mayor frecuencia colocación de clavos muy atrás (100%), remache sobresaliente (100%,), herraje estrecho (47,4%), despalme excesivo de la suela (34%) y despalme excesivo de ranilla (30,8%). La causa de estos defectos es el escaso conocimiento de los herreros sobre técnicas de herraje. | es-ES |
