| dc.description | Phenotipic characteristics and age by tooth chrornometrv were determined in 200 chilean «criollo» gouts from small and big herds of the nineth and tenth region of Chile. Birth weight oif kids was also determined.According to age, the predominant group was that of goats with 8 permanent incisor teeth (46.5%), being younger animals in lower proportions: goats with milk teeth only (14.0%), with 2 permanent incisors (7.5%), 4 permanent incisors (14.5%) and 6 permanent incisors (17.5%). Most goats presented horns (83.0%), beard (97.5%) and had horizontally pointing ears (67.5%%). The hair was either short, regular or long with similar frecuence; the color was predominantly white (58.5%), follow,ed by the color gray (17%). The means for body measurements were respectively in goats with no permanent incisor teeth, 2, 4, 6 and 8 permanent incisor teeth: 55.9 cm, 63.1 cm, 63.3 cm, 63.7 crn and 65.8 cm for whiter height; 88.8 cm, 99.6 cm, 101.6 cm, 106.1 cm and 109.3 cm for body length; 61.3 cm, 78.1 cm, 72.0 cm, 74.8 cm and 77.8 crn for thoracic circumference; 15.7 cm, 18.8 cm, 18.5 cm, 18.8 cm and 19.5 cm for head length. The thoracic circunference was the most variable measurement. The grand mean for birth weight of the kids was 2.4 kg. | en-US |
| dc.description | Se determinaron las características fenotípicas y la edad por cronometría dentaria de 200 cabras criollas de rebaños pequeños y grandes, ubicados en la IX y X regiones del país. Además se determinó el peso al nacimiento de los cabritos. En cuanto a la edad, predominó el grupo de cabras de boca llena (46,5%), siendo inferiores los porcentajes correspondientes a animales más jóvenes, de dientes de leche solamente (14,0%), 2 incisivos permanentes (7,5%). 4 incisivos permanentes (14,5%) y 6 incisivos permanentes (17,5%). Se observó que en la mayoría de los casos las cabras criollas presentaban cuernos (83,0%), barba (97,5%) y orejas semierguidas (67,5%). El pelo se presentó corto, regular o largo, con similar frecuencia, predominando el color blanco (58,5%), seguido del gris (17,0%). Los promedios para las mediciones zoométricas realizadas en las cabras con dientes de leche solamente, 2, 4, 6 y 8 incisivos permanentes fueron respectivamente de: 55,9 cm, 63,1 cm, 63,3 cm, 63,7 cm y 65,8 cm para alzada a la cruz; 88,8 cm, 99.6 cm, 101,6 cm, 106,1 cm y 109,3 cm para largo del cuerpo; 61,3 cm, 78.1 cm, 72,0 cm, 74,8 cm y 77,8 cm para perímetro torácico; 15,7 cm, 18,8 cm, 18,5 cm, 18,8 cm y 19,5 cm para largo de cabeza. El perímetro torácico fue la medida que mostró mayor variación. El peso promedio general de los cabritos fue de 2,4 kg. | es-ES |
