Aspects of the immune response against transmissible venereal tumor (TVT) before and after chemotherapy were studied in 19 dogs with spontaneous TVT, treated with vincristine (0,03 mg/kg i.v. weekly). These animals had hematological tests after every session of chemotherapy. Cytology and histopathology evaluated the proportions of infiltrate leukocytes.In cytological smears and histopathological sections the main infiltrative leukocytes were lymphocytes, 7% and 8,7% respectively, and these proportions increased significantly to 33,66% y 27,00% (p < 0,01) when the percentage of tumor regression reached 50%, and 35,57% and 41,28% (p < 0,05) when the percentage of tumor regression reached beyond 50%. No significant differences were found in percentage of infiltrative PMNeutrophils among treated and nontreated groups.
