dc.descriptionThis article analyses political events thak took place in El Salvador between 2014 and 2015, when two electoral contests have been held and the FMLN won its second´s presidential contest after the nomination of one of its historical leader, Salvador Sánchez Cerén. At the legislative level, despite the victory of ARENA, the bloc formed by GANA and FMLN managed to control enough seats to dominate the Chamber. In the context of consolidation of the FMLNas a governmental party and the fractionalization of the right wing opposition, the Supreme Court has thus become the principal opponent of the government.en-US
dc.descriptionEste artículo analiza los acontecimientos políticos de El Salvador entre 2015 y 2014, cuando se celebraron dos elecciones –presidenciales y legislativas– donde el FMLN volvió a ganar el Ejecutivo, esta vez con un candidato de sus filas, Salvador Sánchez Cerén. En el plano legislativo, a pesar del triunfo de ARENA, el bloque FMLN-GANA retuvo un número significativo de diputados que le permitieron mantener el control de la Asamblea Legislativa. La consolidación del FMLN como partido de gobierno en el ejecutivo, la división interna del partido ARENA y su debilidad política han contribuido a consolidar el rol de la Corte Suprema en la vida política del país.es-ES
