The purpose of this paper is to give the reader a brief and complete approach to the theoretical and critical resolutions made by Elinor Ostrom to the dogma in which the tragedy of the commons and its consequences have become, proposing, at the same time, an exhaustive and serious scientific method in order to assess the economic, environmental and legal consequences of this important proposal of the XX centuryEl presente trabajo tiene por objeto otorgar al lector una aproximación breve y completa acerca de las elaboraciones teóricas y críticas realizadas por Elinor Ostrom al dogma en el que se ha convertido la teoría de la tragedia de los bienes comunes y sus consecuencias, proponiendo, al mismo tiempo, un método científico exhaustivo y serio en orden a valorar las consecuencias económicas, ambientales y jurídicas de esta importante propuesta del siglo XX.
