dc.descriptionThis work present the development of prehistoric archaeology in the Magellan region during the first half of the 20th century, specifically between the years 1932 and 1958, based on the contributions and research done by the archeologists Junius Bird and Joseph Emperaire in the Chilean Patagonia. Through an historical reconstruction considering testimonies and documents of that period, it is possible to confirm personal bonds with scholars and intellectual people of the region. The scientific findings and methodological contributions of both scientists are contextualized; these were crucial for the development of prehistorical archaeology in Magallanes due to the fact that they positioned this zone as a site of interest for future archaeological investigations.en-US
dc.descriptionEste trabajo aborda el desarrollo de la arqueología prehistórica en la región de Magallanes en la primera mitad del siglo XX, específicamente entre los años 1932 y 1958, a partir de los aportes e investigaciones realizados por los arqueólogos Junius Bird y Joseph Emperaire en la Patagonia chilena. A través de una reconstrucción histórica, que recoge testimonios y documentos de la época, se constata los vínculos personales con investigadores e intelectuales de la región. Se contextualiza los hallazgos y aportes metodológicos de ambos científicos que fueron cruciales para el desarrollo de la arqueología prehistórica de Magallanes, debido a que posicionaron esta zona como un sitio de interés para futuras investigaciones arqueológicas.es-ES
