dc.description | Based on the Historia general de las cosas de Nueva España, byfray Bernardino de Sahagún, we tackle the analysis of the lexicalparticularities more notable in the work of this friar. On the onehand, we show the voices, of regional character, characteristic of hisleonese dialectal modality; on the other hand, we collect other wordsof concrete geographic ascription, particularly andalusian voices andother north peninsular terms, as a sample of the degree of levellingand of the creole character in the language of the franciscan, thatcorroborates in the assimilation and adaptation of many of thesevoices in the American dialect. We insist on the verification of thehistorical use of these words and meanings, from their diachronicfollow-up in the documents and lexicographical works of variousperiods, and in the analysis of the discursive mechanisms thataccompany the writings of any period, in accordance with the textualtypology of the work, and with his ethnographic purpose. | en-US |
