Resumen: En relación a la novedad metodológica introducida por Gaudium et spes los trabajos teológicos de Joseph Ratzinger –ya desde los años como perito en el Concilio– oscilan entre una carencia de conciencia signifi cativa y una actitud prevalentemente negativa. En el presente artículo concreto tres pasos. Primero, pongo de relieve la posición del autor sobre la Constitución desde una perspectiva más general: importantes insufi ciencias que él advierte desde el punto de vista del contenido. El segundo momento representa el núcleo de esta contribución. Refi ere al debate metodológico de Gaudium et spes, particularmente a lo concerniente a su estructura, acerca del alcance de la “nueva forma de hacer teología” (Y. Congar). Unas refl exiones fi nales recapitulan el camino recorrido y, sobre todo, ensayan una respuesta diferenciada a la hipótesis formulada. Abstract: In relation to the methodological innovation introduced by Gaudium et Spes, Joseph Ratzinger’s theological works fl uctuate between a significant lack of awareness and a predominantly negative attitude. This article has three parts. First, it highlights the author’s position on the Constitution from a general perspective. Ratzinger points to important weaknesses in its contents. The second phase represents the core of this contribution, which refers to the methodological debate, particularly regarding its structure and its relation to the scope of the “new way of doing theology” (Y.
