El Diagnóstico Genético Preimplantatorio (DGP), mediante biopsia embrionaria, tiene como objeto la detección de alteraciones genéticas antes de la implantación de embriones humanos producidos por fertilización in vitro (FIV). Su fi nalidad más signifi cativa es la selección de embriones por su indemnidad genética. También se puede emplear para seleccionar el sexo o eventualmente otras características detectadas según el deseo de los padres. Este procedimiento es objeto de debates en diversos ámbitos como el bioético o el jurídico. También para la ética teológica esta técnica cuestiona el respeto a la vida e integridad de los seres humanos en desarrollo. Abstract: The purpose of the Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), through embryonic biopsy is the detection of genetic alterations before the implantation of human embryos produced by in vitro fertilization (IVF). Its main purpose is the selection of embryos based on their genetic indemnity. However it can also be used to select the sex or eventually other characteristics according to the parents’ wishes. This procedure has been the subject of many discussions in various fi elds, involving bioethical and legal refl ections. Also for Theological Ethics this technique has been criticized in terms of the respect for the life and integrity of human beings during life development.
