The morpheme -ré has temporal and modal readings. In FunctionalGrammar (FG, Dik 1997) this contrast can be modelled using twooperators of different level (π2 and π3). This work proposes that modalreading needs a durative (non momentaneous) predication and thepragmatic inference that the time of utterance is contained in thatpredication. Direct and indirect interrogative constructions with ira + infi nitive are an exception in this respect, and deserve a specialtreatment. In the last section, some problems that those phenomenapose for FG are sketched.    El morfema -ré tiene una lectura temporal y otra modal, lo que sepuede formalizar en la Gramática Funcional (GF, Dik 1997) a travésde dos operadores de distinto nivel (π2 y π3). En este trabajo se propone que la interpretación modal requiere, por una parte, una predicación durativa (no momentánea) y, por otra, la inferencia pragmática de que el tiempo de dicha predicación contiene al momento de habla. Una excepción al primer requisito lo constituyen las construcciones interrogativas directas o indirectas con ir a + infinitivo, que ameritan un tratamiento especial. En la conclusión, se indican sumariamente algunos problemas que los fenómenos analizados presentan para la GF.
