This article presents the synthesis of a study carried out in the community of Benito Juárez, province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. These are the preliminary results referred to the analysis of the perceptions that the different actors have about the local heritage, and about the participatory process that involved them after the experience of organizing an international Congress related to local heritage issues. The collecting of information focused on addressing the relationship that these groups have established with the local cultural heritage based on their active participation in this event. From a qualitative approach, organizations and groups were identified and their representatives were interviewed individually and in group (applying open and in-depth interviews). The conclusions presented here aim to address the complexity of the relationship between heritage and community in the central area of the province of Buenos Aires.En este artículo se presenta la síntesis de un estudio llevado a cabo en la comunidad de Benito Juárez, provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Estos son los resultados preliminares referidos al análisis de las percepciones que tienen los diferentes actores sobre el patrimonio local, y sobre el proceso participativo que los involucró luego de la experiencia de organizar un Congreso internacional vinculado a temas patrimoniales. El relevamiento se centró en abordar la relación que estos grupos han establecido con el patrimonio cultural local a partir de su participación activa en este evento. A partir de un enfoque cualitativo se identificaron organizaciones y grupos y se entrevistó a sus representantes en base a entrevistas individuales y grupales (abiertas y en profundidad). Las conclusiones presentadas aquí apuntan a abordar la complejidad de la relación entre el patrimonio y la comunidad en el área central de la provincia de Buenos Aires.
