| dc.description | Numerous natural and cultural processes have affected the southern-austral region of Chile during the last 13000 years. To understand many of these processes, an interdisciplinary approach that integrates natural and social sciences is a must. Our attempts to link these two sciences have leaded us to Environmental History; a term coined by History, and usually referred to as a social discipline. Our concept of Environmental History, however, is wider and includes the contributions of a number of other disciplines. This article aims to provide baseline information on the cultural and natural environmental changes that occurred in this region of Chile during the Holocene. | en-US |
| dc.description | En los últimos 13.000 años la región sur-austral de Chile ha sufrido procesos naturales y culturales que sólo es posible entender desde una discusión inter y transdisciplinaria, en la que se reúnan los paradigmas de las ciencias naturales y de las ciencias sociales. En este afán de crear puentes, hemos tomado prestado un término acuñado por la historia como disciplina social, como es el de historia ambiental, ampliándolo a otras dimensiones del saber. Este artículo pretende entregar antecedentes básicos acerca de los cambios tanto en el medio ambiente natural como cultural en el área geográfica referida. | es-ES |
