The present article is an account of the ethnographic and ethnoarchaeologic work developed in the context of Fodecyt project 1040326; the question that orients this set of reflections postulates that the productive and symbolic uses of the natural resources are regulated by seasonal criteria in the forest, lake, river and ocean environments. It also states that, in these practices, we can distinguish patterns of productive and symbolic use that are indigenous, foreign and hybrid, present in the material culture and the oral tradition of the Mapuche communities in the Valdivia River Basin.El presente artículo da cuenta del trabajo etnográfico y etnoarqueológico desarrollado en el marco del proyecto Fondecyt 1040326; este conjunto de reflexiones postula que los usos productivos y simbólicos de los recursos naturales están regulados por criterios de estacionalidad en el ámbito boscoso, fluviolacustre y marítimo, y que en dichas prácticas podemos distinguir modelos de uso productivo y simbólico de carácter autóctono, alóctono e híbrido, presentes en la cultura material y oralidad de las comunidades Mapuche de la cuenca del río Valdivia.
