Investigation on feminine representation has been rising over the last 40 years. The significative increasing of female MP in National Assembly after two consecutive legislative periods (2009-2016) opened the door for the study of feminine representation in Ecuador. The object of this article is to evaluate and analyze both descriptive and substantive representation of female Ecuadorian MPs to define if the equal access to power and political participation between men and women has been really achieved. When a tour is made through candidatures, legislative production, and informal practices inside this institution, a big conclusion can be achieved: although the process to guarantee feminine representation has given big steps, is still necessary to specify effective instruments that allow women overcome the crystal glass and generate a truly parity.La investigación sobre representación femenina en América Latina ha ido en aumento durante los últimos 40 años. El incremento significativo de legisladoras en la Asamblea Nacional durante los dos últimos periodos legislativos (2009- 2016) abrió la puerta para estudiar la representación femenina en Ecuador.  Este artículo tiene como objetivo evaluar y analizar la representación tanto descriptiva como sustantiva de las legisladoras ecuatorianas para determinar si en realidad se ha conseguido igual acceso al poder y participación política que los hombres. Al hacer un recorrido por las candidaturas, la producción legislativa y las prácticas informales dentro de esta institución se puede llegar a una gran conclusión: en  Ecuador siguen existiendo muchas dificultades en la participación política de las mujeres  que no permiten una igualdad real en la esfera pública.
