dc.descriptionAn analysis of the characteristics of six Pinus radiata sites on granite soils of the VIII and IX regions was carried out in order to determine the factors involved in their productivity, as a form of contributing to the management of plantations. In each site, climate, soil, aerial stand, litter and the productive potential as well as the limiting factors of the sites were diagnosed. The results indicate that the sites in Concepción and Nacimiento presented a greater productivity with regards to the Santa Juana and Los Sauces sites. Productivity was determined principally by natural fertility of the soils. The most limiting factors were low organic matter content, deficiency of N, P and B, a closed structure with high bulk density, low total pore volume and difficult rooting. The most restrictive conditions were found in Santa Juana where besides the above, deficient summer hydric balance worsens the situation. Management of these soils should be mainly orientated towards favouring organic matter increase and improvement of physical conditions.en-US
dc.descriptionPara contribuir al perfeccionamiento del manejo de plantaciones de Pinus radiata D. Don establecidas en suelos graníticos de las regiones VIII y IX, se efectúa un análisis de las características de seis sitios con el fin de identificar los factores determinantes en su productividad. En cada sitio se precisaron las características del clima, suelo, vuelo y mantillo y se diagnosticó el potencial productivo y sus factores limitantes. El resultado demostró que los sitios de Concepción y Nacimiento presentaron una mayor productividad respecto a los sitios de Santa Juana y Los Sauces. La productividad estuvo determinada principalmente por la fertilidad natural de los suelos, siendo los factores más limitantes: un bajo contenido de materia orgánica, deficiencias en N, P y B, estructura cerrada, alta densidad aparente, bajo volumen total de poros y arraigabilidad dificultada. Las condiciones más restrictivas se presentaron en Santa Juana, donde además un balance hídrico estival deficitario agrava tales condiciones. El manejo de estos sitios debería ir orientado principalmente en favorecer el aumento de materia orgánica del suelo y mejorar sus condiciones físicas.es-ES
