| dc.description | This study introduces the "spline" functions with the purpose of testing their utility in estimating tree volume. The "spline" functions consists in a group of cubic equations that fittings to a series of points interpolate with exactness values between each point. These functions estimate the value of diameters to given heights or commercial volumes and heights to given diameters. This study presents the development of the "spline" functions and their application in estimating volume in Lenga (Nothofagus pumilio). | en-US |
| dc.description | Se presenta una aplicación de las funciones de interpolación cúbica segmentaria, conocidas como funciones "spline", como una alternativa de cubicación para aquellas especies de latifoliadas que no poseen funciones de ahusamiento. Las funciones "spline" permiten, al igual que las funciones de ahusamiento, la estimación de diámetros a alturas dadas, alturas a diámetros dados y volúmenes comerciales para un determinado índice de utilización. Este estudio entrega el desarrollo teórico de las funciones "spline", al igual que algunos resultados preliminares obtenidos al implementar el sistema para realizar la estimación de volúmenes en Lenga (Nothofagus pumilio). | es-ES |
