| dc.description | Damage to residual trees produced by a harvester-forwarder system was evaluated during commercial thinning of a 16-year-old stand of Pinus radiata D. Don. In several circular samples with a radius of 20 m, the diameter at breast height (DBH), total height, and crown classes were measured in all trees. In damaged trees, the origin, size, intensity, and location of injury were recorded. Only 12.3% of the trees showed some kind of damage, especially co-dominant trees. The injuries to damaged trees were homogeneously distributed between the base and stem of the tree, and most commonly consisted of torn bark without exposure of the cambium. | en-US |
| dc.description | El daño producido a los árboles remanentes por las operaciones de volteo con una cosechadora y por el madereo con un autocargador/transportador se determinó en un raleo comercial de un rodal de Pinus radiata D. Don. de 16 años de edad. En unidades muestrales de forma circular y con un radio de 20 m, se midió el diámetro altura pecho (Dap), altura total y clase de copa de todos los árboles; en aquellos que presentaban heridas, se registró su origen, dimensión, intensidad y ubicación. Sólo el 12,3% de los árboles presentaron algún tipo de daño, daño concentrado principalmente en aquellos más representados (codominantes). Las heridas de los árboles dañados se distribuyen homogéneamente entre la base y el fuste del árbol, siendo la intensidad más común rasgado de corteza sin exposición de cambium. | es-ES |
