| dc.description | The speech On Peace contains the translation of Demosthenes speech together with a number of footnotes necessary to clarify obscure aspects of the text (mainly information tacitly implied in it), and to convey important aspects of the ruling culture of the 4th century B.C. It is a very valuable document of this period of Hellenic history. The translation is presented with an introductory text which allows the reader to anticipate an image of the internal politic troubles caused by the invasion coming from the north which was directed by King Philip of Macedonia and followed by his son Alexander, who finally conquered an empire so far unimagined in its magnitude, and which Droysen called the Hellenistic Empire | en-US |
| dc.description | Este trabajo Acerca de la Paz contiene propiamente la traducción del discurso de Demóstenes, acompañado por un cuerpo de notas marginales a pie de página, que son necesarias para aclarar aspectos oscuros, generalmente, informaciones subentendidas en el texto, además de transmitir aspectos importantes de la cultura imperante en el siglo IV a. C. Se trata de un documento valiosísimo de este paríodo de la historia helena. La traducción está precedida de un texto introductorio, que permite al lector anticipar una imagen de los problemas políticos internos suscitados, producto de la invasión que avanzaba desde el norte, encabezada por el rey Filipo de Macedonia y continuada por su hijo Alejandro hasta hacer de la conquista el imperio aún inimaginado por el hombre por su magnitud, originando lo que desde Droysen se conoce como imperio helenístico. | es-ES |
