The present article exposes the circumstances in which an abruptchange in the succession which took place during the reign of Andronikos IIPalaiologos (1282-1328), who in the year 1321, after the decease of his eldest sonand heir Michael IX (1320), excluded from the imperial succession the latter's son,Andronikos III, putting in his place his second son, Constantine, and above all thelatter's bastard, Michael Katharos, a situation that would be the preamble to the FirstCivil War between the Palaiologoi.    El presente artículo expone las circunstancias en las que se produjoun brusco cambio de sucesión durante el reinado de Andrónico II Paleólogo (1282-1328), quien en el año 1321, tras la muerte de su hijo mayor y heredero Miguel IX(1320), excluyó de la sucesión imperial al hijo de éste último, Andrónico III, colocandoen su lugar a su segundo vástago, Constantino, y principalmente al hijo bastardo deéste, Miguel Katharos, situación que sería el preámbulo a la Primera Guerra Civil entrelos Paleólogos.
