At the global level, soil-built heritage has sparked increasing interest in the past few decades. It is valued due to its environmental features and, at the same time, is it a matter of concern due to its seismic vulnerability. In Chile, the emerging process of acknowledging the cultural assets of this built heritage, in addition to the damages caused by the latest earthquakes, have sparked the interest in its study and preservation. Notwithstanding, most of this heritage continues to be anonymous, stigmatized and subject to many myths concerning its structural behavior. In this context, this heritage will be revealed under the "constructive cultures" approach, a category that helps analyze, in a systemic manner, the construction techniques in terms of the environment and culture that conceived them, thereby allowing for a sustainable safeguard and the correct intervention of the built heritage.A nivel mundial, el patrimonio construido en tierra ha cobrado un creciente interés en las últimas décadas, siendo valorado debido a sus características ambientales y, al mismo tiempo, objeto de preocupación debido a su vulnerabilidad frente a los sismos. En Chile, el incipiente proceso de reconocimiento de los valores culturales de este patrimonio construido, junto a los daños sufridos a causa de los últimos terremotos, han aumentado el interés por estudiarlo y preservarlo. Aún así, gran parte de él sigue siendo anónimo, estigmatizado y objeto de muchos mitos acerca su comportamiento estructural. En ese contexto, se dará a conocer este patrimonio desde la perspectiva de las "culturas constructivas", categoría que permite analizar, de manera sistémica, las técnicas constructivas en relación al ambiente y la cultura donde fueron concebidas, permitiendo así una salvaguardia sustentable y la correcta intervención del patrimonio construido.
