This article reveals the existence of a bioclimatic urban pattern in an old village in Elqui Valley, Chile. This pattern was discovered when attempting to relate the ancient settlements of this Valley with the natural resources in the area, in order to achieve thermal comfort. Initially, the area's microclimate is studied with bioclimatic charts to then develop an interaction matrix between urban and natural environment variables. The findings show that the village of Algarrobito acts sustainably and efficiently uses the area's natural resources. The matrix shows the presence of an urban bioclimatic pattern. Subsequently, evidence of the existence of such urban pattern in other villages in the Valley is offered. Then, environmental urban planning to achieve thermal comfort was evident in other ancient housing complexes in the Elqui Valley.El presente estudio descubre la existencia de un patrón urbano bioclimático en un antiguo poblado ubicado en el Valle de Elqui en Chile. Este patrón fue descubierto cuando se intentaba relacionar los antiguos poblados del Valle de Elqui con los recursos naturales del lugar, con el fin de lograr confortabilidad térmica. En un principio se realiza un estudio del microclima del lugar a través de cartas bioclimáticas y luego se elabora una matriz de interacción entre variables urbanas y de medio ambiente. Los resultados demuestran que el poblado de Algarrobito actúa de manera sustentable y aprovecha eficientemente los recursos naturales del lugar. La matriz muestra características que evidencian la presencia de un patrón urbano bioclimático. Luego, se logra dar evidencias de que dicho patrón urbano estaba presente en otros poblados del valle. Entonces, la planificación urbana ambiental para el logro del confort térmico quedaba de manifiesto en otros antiguos conjuntos habitacionales del Valle de Elqui.
