The following reflections comprise those studies prior to the development of a doctoral thesis in traditional architecture, and those experiences obtained during the inventory works on Ethnographic Heritage of Madrid Community by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Traditional architecture, now in extinction, is becoming more and more interesting for the different areas concerning research about architectonic work. Its strong links with those topics as locality give it an important heritage value, both historical and synthetic. Architecture without architects teaching us some sensitive ways to understand and inhabit our environment.Las siguientes reflexiones comprenden los estudios previos al desarrollo de la tesis doctoral en arquitectura tradicional, y a las experiencias obtenidas en los trabajos de inventario del Patrimonio Etnográfico de la Comunidad de Madrid por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. La arquitectura tradicional, en vías de extinción, vuelve a cobrar interés en las diferentes áreas de investigación del quehacer arquitectónico. Su estrecha relación con los temas de localidad, la hacen, de un importante valor patrimonial tanto histórico como compositivo. Una arquitectura sin arquitectos que nos enseña sensibles maneras de comprender y habitar nuestro medio.
