| dc.description | The city is a space for representation where specific preexisting conditions of the context, added to the vision of urban developers and architects, become entangled to give it its modern shape. Revisiting the 1930's Main Square project in Osorno -the work of Austrian landscaper Oscar Prager- reveals its underlying urban operations. Likewise, the process can help define the conceptual framework within which they are inscribed to establish, as theoretical grounds, the work of urban developer W. Hegemann about civic art, added to his own experience as a park planner in the United States. Since there are no records of planimetry or of related projects, a deductive method was used to interpret the basic building blocks in the municipal minutes. A paradigm was identified, referring to the close relationship among a city that was thought, projected and built and, which, even today, can be seen in one of its landmark projects. | en-US |
| dc.description | La ciudad es el espacio de la representación, en donde determinadas condiciones pre-existentes del contexto, sumadas a la visión de urbanistas y arquitectos, se entrelazan para darle forma en su versión moderna. Una relectura al proyecto de la Plaza de Armas de Osorno de 1930, obra del paisajista austríaco Oscar Prager, permitirá determinar las operaciones urbanas que están detrás. Así mismo, definirá el marco conceptual en que éstas se inscriben para establecer, como germen teórico, el trabajo del urbanista W. Hegemann sobre arte cívico, sumado a su propia experiencia como planificador de parques en Estados Unidos. Al no existir registro de la planimetría ni de sus proyectos asociados, se utilizó una metodología deductiva para interpretar los elementos constitutivos en las actas municipales. Se identifica un paradigma, el cual refiere a la estrecha relación entre ciudad pensada, proyectada y construida que, hasta hoy, aún podemos visualizar en éste, uno de sus proyectos emblemáticos. | es-ES |
