| dc.description | During the last decade, there has been an exponential emergence of building rating tools internationally, as a response from the building sector to the development and environmental challenges that the world faces today. Currently some of these systems are evolving towards a wider scope, going further than the limits of the buildings as singular objects, for assessing the sustainability of neighbourhoods and communities. In this context is relevant to analyse the role of this kind of systems, based on actions at the intermediate urban scale. For that purpose, this essay aims to explore some of the main rating systems for neighbourhoods and communities, reviewing the sustainability aspects covered by them, their influence towards sustainability, and their relevance as possible base for the sustainability evaluation of neighbourhoods and communities at the Chilean context. | en-US |
| dc.description | Durante la última década hemos sido testigos del surgimiento exponencial de sistemas de certificación ambiental de edificios a nivel internacional, como respuesta del sector de la edificación frente a los desafíos ambientales y de desarrollo que el mundo enfrenta. Actualmente algunos de estos sistemas están evolucionando hacia un campo mayor de acción, extendiéndose más allá de los límites de cada edificio como objeto singular, para así evaluar la sustentabilidad de barrios y comunidades. En este contexto cabe analizar cuál es el rol de este tipo de sistemas basados en acciones a escala urbana intermedia. Para ello, este ensayo busca explorar algunos de los principales sistemas de certificación de barrios y comunidades, revisando los aspectos de sustentabilidad que abarcan, su influencia hacia la sustentabilidad, y su relevancia como posible base para la evaluación de la sustentabilidad de barrios y comunidades en el contexto chileno. | es-ES |
